Wolf Watch UK is a private membership, Wolf rescue group that began life as a hobby and evolved into the self-funding, not-for-profit organisation it is today. Access to the project is strictly via our Adopt-a-Wolf membership or approved conservation groups with permission to bring visiting parties during pre-arranged days.

The primary function of Wolf Watch UK is as a rescue centre for displaced Wolves. The rehoming of Wolves can occur through incidents such as dominance fights, pack rejection or where it is no longer viable to keep an animal in the same pack; excess breeding; zoo closures and sometimes instances of neglect. Our priority is the resident Wolves we care for and the environments we protect them in.

We consider Membership to this project and access to our Wolves as a privilege and any contact or observation with the resident animals is entirely at their discretion. Our Wolf Centre is not a zoo and is not open to the public, it is a refuge and sanctuary for our Wolves whom we and our membership are privileged to share some wonderful times. We do not approve of tranquilised animals, dragged about on leads around fields, fairs or events in a blatant financial exercise for human beings making money by exploiting an endangered species.

This is an emphasis we feel sets us apart from many other conservation groups and as the original Wolf rescue organisation in the UK we are proud to be setting the example in respect of animal and Wolf care in captivity. Our membership are strong supporters of our philosophy and approach and together we have produced a fantastic environment where our rescued Wolves can live out their lives in some of the worlds largest Wolf enclosures. Direct access to the project or Wolf Centre is obtained only via our private membership option adopt-a-wolf, if you would like to know more details about obtaining membership, please utilise this text option on the menu to the left.

The next best thing to actually meeting our Wolves at the Centre, is seeing them via our various video clips in the Wolf video section. Taken around our forests, lake and hills they capture our Wolves at the Centre itself. These video sequences fulfil a key part of our policy to minimise impact and disturbance whilst enabling the widest possible audience to experience the thrill of our Wolves.

We have been fortunate enough to be able to utilise footage taken by professional film crews who have visited the Centre. Wildlife camera units like the BBC team who regularly work for such people as Sir David Attenborough, have made repeated trips to our Wolf Centre to film the stunning natural scenery and of course, our Wolves.

We would like to stress however that all such activities are only permitted if they are valid programs which contribute to the education of people concerning Wolves and their world.

The secondary function of Wolf Watch UK, is that of education and follows on quite naturally from the first. Education is the means through which we work to prevent further animals from becoming displaced and raise awareness about the issues surrounding Wolves both in captivity and the wild.

Often assumed to be much larger than we actually are, Wolf Watch UK is in fact maintained by a tiny group of volunteers who have dedicated their free time and skills to develop the project during the last ten years. PLEASE NOTE: These particular Wolf buttons are replaced at various points/times throughout the web site by accessing various sections. However, these buttons will be immediately restored by simply selecting the relevant section again, or by clicking on the home page button or logo, which would restore everything back to the beginning.
